Paper Guidelines
22nd Hayes Forum Paper Guidelines
- The paper must be typed (12-point Times New Roman font) and double-spaced.
- The paper must be written for a general audience of faculty members(not experts) in your academic area (http://cgs.osu.edu/clusters.aspx).
- In general, you should follow the publication traditions in your discipline. You may wish to consult an accepted style manual such as APA or MLA. The list of references, citations, or bibliography should be single-spaced. Double-spacing in between bibliographic entries is acceptable. Feel free to look at one of the example papers listed under guideline #5 or guideline #6.
- Margins must be EXACTLY 1-inch on all sides of the page.
- If you are giving a 12-minute oral presentation, your paper may not exceed 10 pages of text, excluding necessary figures and references. These additional pages of figures and references may themselves not exceed 10 pages. (Note that you can either insert your figures among the main text, or place them separately at the end.) An example paper can be viewed at: https://kb.osu.edu/dspace/bitstream/1811/29303/1/BM-E.Hayes.pdf
- If you are giving a 5-minute presentation with accompanying exhibition/performance, or a poster presentation, your paper may not exceed 6 pages of text, excluding the cover page and necessary figures and references. These additional pages of figures and references may themselves not exceed 11 pages. (Note that you can either insert your figures among the main text, or place them separately at the end.) An example poster paper can be viewed at: https://kb.osu.edu/dspace/bitstream/1811/29390/1/N.Young,%20Hayes%20Research%20Forum.pdf
- Submit papers electronically no later than 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 16, 2008. Submit papers at the following link: http://cgs.osu.edu/secure/forum/student_app.asp. *Nearly everyone will be able to submit using the link... However, if this link is not working for you, email Jason Marion your paper at jmarion@studentaffairs.osu.edu.
- Please do not exceed a reasonable amount of paper -- if you can fit more than one chart, graph, or figure on a page clearly and neatly, please do so. Do not use report covers. Papers that exceed limits will have excess pages eliminated.
